Partnership Background

The two founding partners, James Judd and Spencer Harvard-Walls, have known each other for over 20 years and share a passion for the renovation and design of residential and commercial buildings, especially those of architectural interest. They have created Opus Securities to explore development and investment opportunities within the South of England and Europe.

Having both trained as surveyors, James went on to establish a successful renovation, construction and joinery business in Hampshire, primarily focused on the restoration of period and Listed buildings. In September 2002, he also launched Hippowaste, a concept based upon the collection of waste through propropylene bags, which now operates nationwide under a management team and stands alone as a major player in the waste industry.

Spencer joined the London based practice of Allsop & Co where he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and became Partner responsible for Central London Investments. After 12 years with Allsop’s, he left to spearhead the national acquisition and development programme for a private residential fund taking them from a capitalisation of £85M to over £125M in just over 12 months. In 2005, Spencer joined Muro International a private company dealing with residential and commercial investments, joint ventures and developments within central London and along the M4 corridor where he remains a consultant.

The combination of their diverse experience, which incorporates a range of skills from design, to planning through to construction, has led to the successful, pro-active and progressive attitude of the partners in establishing a company that seeks innovative ideas and delivers on them.
